Many of our clients have been injured in car, truck and motorcycle accidents due to the negligence of someone else. Regardless of how the accident took place, our office works hard to see that every client is pleased with the result of his or her case.

In each issue of The Client Connection, this column will discuss one action we can take on our own to ensure that we are able to fully recover should an unfortunate accident occur.

This issue, the subject is PIP or “Personal Injury Protection.” Part of an auto policy, PIP is designed to pay your medical bills before your case is resolved. It is often difficult to find doctors willing to treat accident-related injuries when the patient is unable to pay at the time the medical care is received. PIP pays your doctor when the care is needed, ensuring you get the treatment you require.

Here is the important part: The standard PIP policy will cover $2,500.00 of your bills. For only a few dollars per month more, you can increase your PIP coverage to a maximum of $10,000.00. Every dollar that PIP does not cover is a dollar that will come out of your proceeds when your case is resolved. Every dollar that PIP covers is a dollar added to your ultimate recovery. The bottom line is that your medical bills must be paid. For a minimum cost, you can have PIP do most of the work, leaving you with a higher recovery and more money in your pocket.

Call our office anytime and ask us to perform a complimentary coverage evaluation on your current auto policy, or request a copy of our soon-to-be published book about purchasing Automobile Insurance in Maryland.
