The westbound lane of the Hatem Bridge is closed due to an accident. Drivers are advised to use Interstate 95 to cross the Susquehanna River. There is no toll for southbound travelers.

The Maryland State Police are warning of hazardous conditions due to sleet and freezing rain on interstates 70 and 68. Officials say there were many crashes Friday morning on the ice-covered roadways. State police closed all westbound lanes on a portion of I-70 from about 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. to allow crews to treat the road.

According to the Maryland State Police, 75-year-old Daniel Fanning of Aberdeen was driving a Ford truck westbound on Route 40 about 3 p.m. on Monday when a Nissan sedan driven by 74-year-old Kenneth Hitchcock of Newark pulled out from southbound Jackson Station Road and into Fanning's path.

Charges resulting from a Harford County Grand Jury indictment were served by State Police this morning on a driver involved in a crash last month in which three people were killed. The accused is identified as Travis N. Gray, 31, of the 3500-block of Day Road, Darlington, Md. He is charged with three counts each of vehicular manslaughter, negligent homicide while under the influence and negligent homicide while impaired. He is charged with one count each of driving while under the influence and driving while impaired.

A Galena woman was seriously injured Thursday when she leapt from a moving car on Route 213 in Cecilton, according to police. Karren Brandt, 34, leapt from a minivan that was being driven by her mother on southbound Route 213, just south of Douglas Street, about 4 p.m., according to Maryland State Police.

The Maryland State Police opened up its forensics laboratory in Pikesville last week to show off its latest pride and joy - a spanking-new facility devoted entirely to analyzing blood samples from drivers who are suspected of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs other than alcohol.

An Earleville man was killed Friday morning in a single-car wreck just north of Summit Bridge in Delaware, according to police. Delaware State Police said 20-year-old Shawn Zimmerman was riding in the back seat of a 2008 Pontiac G6 that struck a median on the east side of Route 896 near Old Summit Bridge Road about 3:40 a.m.

A two-vehicle accident in Carroll County left 11 people injured Friday evening. The 5:42 p.m. crash involving a van and another vehicle occurred in the 2900 block of Hampstead-Mexico Road, Route 482.
