In these photos, several vehicles are seen blocking the roadway Saturday following a four-car crash on Joseph Biggs Highway at the intersection of Smith Road in Rising Sun. Two drivers were taken to Union Hospital and the state police are investigating the accident.
The westbound lane of the Hatem Bridge is closed due to an accident.
Drivers are advised to use Interstate 95 to cross the Susquehanna River. There is no toll for southbound travelers.
According to the Maryland State Police, 75-year-old Daniel Fanning of Aberdeen was driving a Ford truck westbound on Route 40 about 3 p.m. on Monday when a Nissan sedan driven by 74-year-old Kenneth Hitchcock of Newark pulled out from southbound Jackson Station Road and into Fanning's path.
No injuries were reported following a minor school bus accident near Rising Sun on Friday morning, according to school and police officials.
The cause of an early morning car accident in northern Virginia is still a mystery. It killed a Baltimore County woman and seriously injured another passenger, but as police investigate, the woman's family says goodbye.
The driver of a pickup truck that was struck from behind and careened head-on into a tree last month has died, and Anne Arundel County police said Monday they will meet with prosecutors regarding possible criminal charges stemming from the crash.
